Email security: so nobody can write in your name

Your email address is your company letterhead. Today anyone can send a letter on it, and the recipient’s mail system will deliver it. DMARC is the rule you give the mail system: these are the senders allowed to write in my name, throw away the rest, and tell me who tried.

What it does for the business

  • Nobody can send invoices as you. The classic fraud – an email to your customer, from your address: “our bank account has changed”. The customer pays the fraudster; you do not get paid.
  • Nobody can instruct your staff as you. “Urgent transfer to the supplier” from the director’s address to the accountant.
  • Your real invoices reach the inbox, not spam. Google and Microsoft treat unauthenticated mail as suspicious; invoices in spam get paid late.
  • You learn who sends in your name. Accounting system, web shop, marketing tool, forgotten server – DMARC reports show them all.
  • Banks, auditors and insurers increasingly ask for it.

In the Baltics this is a real gap

We checked all 351,586 .lv, .lt and .ee domains. Of the 238,009 that receive email, 88% have SPF, but only 10.7% have DMARC with real protection (quarantine or reject). In Latvia, 15.9%. For the rest, anyone can write in the company’s name.

What we do

  1. Sender inventory – who sends in your domain’s name, and from where.
  2. SPF and DKIM for each sender, DMARC in monitoring mode.
  3. 4-8 weeks of report analysis, so we do not block your own systems.
  4. Move to protection (quarantine, then reject) with your approval.
  5. Ongoing monitoring: new senders, changes, attempts to write in your name.

What it does not do

DMARC does not stop look-alike domains (for example your-company-lv.com) and does not stop an employee clicking a link. It closes one specific door – the one most invoice fraud comes through.

  • Setup for one domain with up to three sending systems – €390, fixed.
  • Ongoing monitoring is included in managed IT services; standalone – €99 per year per domain.
